Hello, and welcome fellow BookCrossers!
We would like to welcome you all to the BookCrossing Convention 2010, to be held in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, on April 16-18, 2010!
News! Hot off the press!
April. 8Only a little over a week to go!
It's getting really close now! We have sent out another big mass mailing with the programme and a lot of information. If you didn't get it, please check your spambox first before e-mailing us. Here's a few short bits that deserve your attention:
We would like everyone to consider saving some small cash. We only have a limited amount of change available, so please remember that, and don't hand us a fifty. You'll need cash for tombola/lottery tickets, merchandise, drinks and supply store.
We have something REALLY special for the lottery we're very excited about, thanks to an anonymous sponsor: A brand new Be Book One E-Reader!
The supply store will be there with some stock, not that much though so get yours before they run out! Payment in euros.
You can only pay cash during the event!
Due to overwhelming demand for some of the sunday activities, the only activity we still have room in at this point is the haiku writing workshop.
Matt (Sr. Software Engineer) has confirmed his attendance as well!
Safe travels everyone, see you in a week or so!
March. 7Less than six weeks to go!
Wow, can you believe in six weeks we will be all together already? We are very much looking forward to it! Preparations are at full speed. We have started a thread in the convention forums where we are seeking your help with several small tasks at the Convention to keep things running smoothly. Please lend a hand!
We've done quite a big overhaul of the website and tweaked basically every single page, updating and adding bits. Most notably, we've updated the FAQ and the programme is much more elaborate and up to date now. Have a look around!
We sent out a mass-mailing to all attendees yesterday about the Sunday activities so you can sign up. Please respond as soon as possible, but at least before March 31st to allow time for organisation. If you didn't receive this mailing, please make sure our e-mail address (bookcrossingconvention@gmail.com) is white-listed and we have the right e-mail address for you, we've had a couple of bouncers. It is important we can reach you!
VIP-news: Heather (Co-founder of BookCrossing) will also be joining us, we're delighted!
To finish this off for today, we'd like to remind you the due date for t-shirt orders is fast approaching. After March 15th, you will no longer be able to order a t-shirt. This is to allow enough time to produce them.
Feb. 2The convention label designs are ready!
Xamantha has made some beautiful designs specifically for the 2010 convention, with a Dutch theme. You may print as many as you want for your personal use. Click here to find them!
Jan. 29T-shirts
If you want more t-shirts, here's your chance! As of now, you can order multiple t-shirts. Get the whole set! :-)
Jan. 5Happy New Year!
And so far, we have started off happily enough: We are delighted to welcome our 200th confirmed attendee! Bruce, our CEO/President of BookCrossing will also join us. We are much honoured he will lighten the party even more with his presence.
Over 200 guests, this will be some party! Less than four months to go, and anticipation and excitement rises. This also means we now have less than 50 tickets still available before we are sold out, so don't miss out. Regular price of € 50 per ticket now applies.
Dec. 19Hotels and Restaurants
For your convenience, we now have a list of restaurants and hotels in the area available. This is just a short list of suggestions, for lots more try google. :-)
Dec. 2Ticket sales are going really well!
As I write this, we only have 60 tickets left, and less than 4 weeks of the discounted Early Bird fee! So if you want to come and save yourself € 10, buy your ticket before January 1st 2010! Starting at midnight (CET) of the new year, the regular price of € 50 will apply. 185 seats have already been taken up, very exciting!
Happy Holidays, and see you in April!
Dec. 2Special Convention label
By popular request, a special convention label is currently being designed. It will be availble for download on the website when it is done. So start saving up the books you want to release at the convention, and you will be able to stick your own printed out convention labels in them!
Oct. 14Ticket sales have started!
We only have 250 seats available so make sure to order soon. Early birds pay €40, those who wait until January 1st 2010 pay €50. Save €10 and order your ticket now! You can also already order your convention t-shirt.
Important Note
Many people have asked whether we can reserve a ticket for them to make sure they don't miss out on the limited seats. We are very happy many people are so keen on coming and we look forward to welcoming every single one of you! However, we decided we cannot reserve a ticket for you as part of the organising team, for several reasons. What you can do is arrange for a friend of yours who is not on the organising team to purchase your ticket for you. We will try to make something on the subscribing form to make this easier. Don't forget to pay them back ;)
OBCZ
The Griffin (our venue) is now an OBCZ! See the bookshelf for more information
